The Fédération des parents francophones de Terre-Neuve et du Labrador (FPFTNL) was created in 1989. It is a provincial body that represents the interests of Francophone children and parents on issues relating to education. It is part of the Commission nationale des parents francophones.

The FPFTNL is funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage Official Languages Program.

The FPFTNL aims to:

  1. Promote the role of the parent as their child’s primary educator
  2. Ensure that Francophone parent committees are united and joint in action
  3. Offer training, information, and support services to parent committees
  4. Promote the interests and goals of parent committees
  5. Ensure that the parents’ institutional rights are respected
  6. Act as an official representative for its members
  7. Organize province-wide projects
  8. Establish partnerships with the major provincial and national stakeholders in education
